How do consumers decide on ceramic tiles for their bathroom?

When it comes to your bathroom, you want a bright, comfortable place. Somewhere you can get ready comfortably yet can be a place for immense relaxation when you want it. Every part of your bathroom ties into the vibe that is given throughout the space. That includes the tiles for your bathroom floor.

There are so many different types, colors, patterns, etc. of tile to choose from, so where do you start? Below is some advice on how consumers decide on ceramic tiles for their bathroom.

Start With Your Dream Tile
The first tile choice you should take a look when renovating your bathroom floor is the one you’ve been dying to have. I’m sure if you’ve made it to renovation then you already have an idea of the design you want for your bathroom; and that has your dream bathroom tile. Once you have a base tile, then you can select other tiles, if desired, to pair with your main selection and accent it.

However, it is suggested that you try and keep it to no more than 3 different tiles. So if you chose a white, or solid colored tile as your main starting point, then you may want to accent that with a patterned tile, or one with a pop of color that will emphasize the flooring. If you chose a patterned or colorful tile as your starting point, then accenting it with solid color tiles or a nice white tile can tie the space in perfectly!

Stick to One Stand-Out
One thing to keep in mind when selecting a bathroom tile is that you don’t want your bathroom too busy. If there are a lot of different patterns and colors going on, it can be too much and can make the space feel small and overwhelmed. To avoid that, keeping to one pattern, paired with some neutrals, or solid colored tiles will help to keep the space calm, and welcoming.

But another thing to keep in mind is that it’s your bathroom, so feel free to break outside the boundaries a bit. If you really like something, and you want to try it out, that’s entirely up to you. And who knows, it could turn out to be just what your bathroom needed!

Consider the Cleaning
One final thing to take into consideration when choosing out your bathroom tile is how easy it will be to maintain the tile you’ve selected. Most people aren’t the biggest fans of cleaning the bathroom. So knowing what you’re getting into with cleaning and maintaining the space is crucial to do prior to purchasing the tile for your bathroom. Once you know about the upkeep, and are willing to do it, then you’re good to go.

Deciding on what ceramic tiles to choose for your bathroom doesn’t have to be a daunting task. As long as you do your research beforehand, and have an idea of the style that you want, you should be able to find some tiles to complete your bathroom in no time!

How can I clean my bathroom tiles?

Who doesn’t love a clean bathroom? All sparkling and glistening, the smell of cleanliness filling the air. Then you look down and see some not so shiny bathroom tiles. Have you ever wondered how to get those cleaner and looking brand new again? Well, below are some instructions on how to clean your bathroom tiles.

What You’ll Need

·       Rubber gloves
·       Cleaning solution
·       Old toothbrush
·       Old scrubber

Step by Step
First, make sure your bathroom is well ventilated. You’re going to appreciate the airflow for the next step, since you’re going to be running the shower on hot to build up some steam in your bathroom. By running the hot water for a few minutes, the steam opens the tiles’ pores and relaxes the dirt so it’s easier to scrub at.

Next, comes the cleaning solution. Now a bathroom cleaning solution can be purchased from your local store. Or, if you’re more into cleaning the natural way, there is an easy homemade cleaning solution recipe.

Just dilute a mixture of vinegar and baking soda into some water, and pour that into a spray bottle. The vinegar acts as a degreaser while the baking soda scrubs away at the surface, all while taking away any odor. This solution works best when left on for at least a minute so it can loosen the dirt. Make sure you always start with testing it on a small area of your tiles first, that way you know it won’t cause any damage.

Now comes time for a little elbow grease. Take that old toothbrush, and scrub along the grout of your tiles. The toothbrushes’ bristles are small enough to get down into the crevices and lift the dirt that was loosened up by the hot steam and the cleaning solution.

You can then take an old scrubber to scrub the actual surface of the tiles, which will be easier to do with a scrubber than a toothbrush, since there’s such a difference in surface area. Once you’ve scrubbed the tile and the grout, then you can take a warm, wet cloth and wipe down the area you just scrubbed clean.

Upkeep
You shouldn’t have to deep clean your bathroom tiles every single time you clean your bathroom, at least not unless it’s a highly trafficked bathroom. If that’s the case, you may have to deep clean them as you just did. So, when you clean your bathroom regularly, just make sure you give your tile floors just a little attention.

That could mean taking a wet towel and wiping them down, or taking some water and Pinesol and giving your floors a good mop over. Either way, maintaining your floors will prevent you from having to do more work than you really need to do, by deep cleaning them as often. Cleaning your tile floors doesn’t have to be as daunting and annoying as you once thought it to be. It can be a bit of a process, but the reward is something you’ll be happily satisfied with.

How bathroom remodeling makes your bathrooms look fascinating

If you’re like me, you’ve spent a little too much time watching those home renovation shows. And if you’ve spent that time watching them, then you’ve spent that time day dreaming about remodeling your own bathroom. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. I can vouch for it. Well, believe it or not remodeling your bathroom may not be a bad idea. In fact, it could be just what your bathroom needs to make it fascinating!

Should you finally take the plunge and remodel your bathroom? The answer is Yes. Your towels look dingy, and no it doesn’t matter that you’ve washed them twice. You need new ones. You’ve had the same toothbrush holder since you first moved into the place… 4 years ago. Buy yourself a new one. Once upon a time, your bathroom used to be white. But now, it looks between cream and yellow. The longer you look at it, the more confused you get by what color it used to be. And who doesn’t want an overly soft rug that feels like magic on your feet when you get out of the shower. We all want that. We’d be lying if we said we didn’t.

So I’m here to tell you… remodel your bathroom!

You can go BIG. Did you watch House Hunters Renovation, and see a bathroom that you would be proud to copy in your own home? Me too, last night for instance. Are you in the position to be able to do a bathroom renovation? If the answer is yes, then I say GO BIG.

Get that big jetted tub and separate waterfall shower that you’ve imagined in your daydreams. The daydream where you have your own grand bathroom in your own mansion. You don’t have to be living in the mansion just yet in order to remodel. You’d be surprised just how close you could get your renovated bathroom to your dream one, within your budget! What I’m saying is, there are many options. So why not take the plunge!

Or, you can go small. Go to your local hardware store and pick out a new paint color. Then go home, and paint your heart out. Paint away the years or dirt and dinginess and make your space look new again. You’ll be surprised just how much of a change a new coat of paint can do.

Now the fun part begins, decorating! Throw out those old towels, stained toothbrush holder, and that worn out rug. Start fresh with some new art for your walls, some bathroom rugs that are sure to make your feet happy, and a toothbrush holder and soap dispenser that will go with your rug perfectly. Then, to top it all off, grab a candle or two to give it a little ambiance.

Once you’ve remodeled your bathroom, I encourage you to stand in the doorway and look at your finished product. If you feel it’s a space of peace and tranquility, I’d say you succeeded in making your bathroom fascinating!
